2017 AGM Minutes of Meeting

MINUTES 2 0 1 9 A N N U A L G E N E R A L M E E T I N G.
The Annual Meeting was held at Ballybofey & Stranorlar Golf Club on Wednesday 20th February 2019 at 8pm. Sean Carlin Captain of B&S Golf Club welcomed the committee and delegates from the clubs in particular the Chairman of the Committee Fr Anthony Griffiths.
Fr Anthony Griffiths after welcoming the delegates and thanking them for coming then announced that he and Paddy Carr were retiring from the Committee after the conclusion of this AGM. A small presentation was made by Frank Casey the youngest member of the Committee to Fr Anthony & Paddy as a gesture of appreciation to them for their long-time service to the Committee and Golf in the County.
Minutes of 2018 Meeting were not read but had been posted to Website, they were agreed and adopted without comment.
There were no matters arising.
Tony Carr Secretary gave a short overview of Donegal County Golf Committee Website and spoke of Strengths, Weaknesses Aspirations etc for same.
Match play Convenor’s Reports. The convenors Ed Harvey, Frank Casey, Tony Carr & Peter Dobson gave the results and commented on the individual Match Play Events:
Senior Matchplay - Letterkenny
Junior Matchplay - Donegal GC
Donegal League - Letterkenny
Minor League - Otway
Youth Matchplay - Dunfanaghy
Seniors Matchplay - Ballybofey & Stranorlar
By and large the events had run very well and the ‘zero tolerance’ policy would seem to have been working. Peter Dobson explained that the Senior Matchplay had fallen slightly behind schedule due to an unfortunate mistake in one of the Dates included in Draw sheet. But the event was still completed by mid-October. Ed Harvey explained that Youth Golf was struggling and entries to the Youth Matchplay were poor and this mirrored a decline in the school golf program. He appealed to Clubs to support and promote Youth Golf Programs in their respective clubs.
Tony Carr Thanked Donegal Golf Club for providing their course for the Senior & Junior Matchplay Finals and Semi Finals which had run off very well.
Draws for 2019 Matchplay Competitions were made.
Fixture Cards for Seniors Alliance were distributed.
Details & Dates for keys fixtures at each of the clubs were recorded.
There were no Proposals.
There was no AOB.
Fr Anthony closed the meeting & wished everyone a safe Journey home and happy Golfing in 2019.
